Byron Bay

We hopped in the car and began the road trip up to Noosa (about 650 miles north up the coast).  We stopped halfway up to spend the night in a seaside town called Coff's Harbour.  It was a quick stay, but we enjoyed the view to the ocean from our room and listening to the kookabura's crazy call from the bush. The next day we drove a few more hours and stopped for the afternoon at a beautiful beach called Byron Bay. Rick and I recalled our earlier trips to Byron and tried to find that great cafe with the salt and pepper squid ... but instead delighted the kids with dinner at a sushi train.  The highlight was a walk up the hill to the Byron Bay lighthouse.  The views of the uninterrupted coastline were stunning.
