Between the flags
We've been finding it increasingly difficult to laugh at Olivia's statement that she was surprised to find out that Sydney was "in the rainforest." We do love Sydney, but six straight days of rain was beginning to test the relationship. Today we awoke to blue skies and sunshine and the city sparkled. We spent the entire day on Manly Beach. Luke is obsessed with beach cricket, and we probably raised some eyebrows with adding 1st and 3rd base. Olivia can withstand the colder waters and she rode the waves on the boogie board most of the time. We "slipped, slopped and slapped" (covered up with sunscreen) and stayed in the warm sun for as long as our pale Connecticut complexion allowed.
After spending some of the hotter hours inside watching some telly (iCarly is everywhere!), we ventured out again and walked to the cliffs that tower over Manly beach. It was a beautiful walk as the evening cooled and the sun began to sink low over the water. Rick and I shared a couple of VBs (Victoria Bitter beer) while the kids snapped pictures of whatever happened to be within a two ft. distance.
We leave our beautiful Manly apartment tomorrow morning and move in with some good friends for the weekend. They have two children close in ages to Olivia and Luke and it should be a fun weekend of parties for kids AND adults!
